Intermediate dressmaking class - skirt sloper and skirt

Starting Wednesday 1st May for 4 weeks

11:30am -1:30pm

Mandors, Glasgow

Join me to make your own skirt sloper and then skirt.  I'll take you through the steps to draft your own skirt sloper – a pattern specifically for you which will fit like a glove and forms the basis for creating your own bespoke skirts.  We’ll take all the measurements required, translate that onto a paper and make a cotton toile to check the fit,  making adjustments as required.  Then we’ll use that sloper to create a skirt pattern in the shape you want.  We’ll discuss the merits of underlining and interfacing, insert an invisible zip, add a waistband and make sure the hem is even.  You can choose material for your skirt from Mandor’s extensive range of beautiful fabrics with 10% off for the duration of the course.

The sloper is the basic building block which allows you to understand the pattern adjustments you need to make for your unique shape.  You’ll be able to use the sloper to draft your own patterns at home, and understanding the garment ease required for comfort and design as well as your own fitting adjustments will let you manipulate commercial patterns to give a bespoke finish.

Included in the course: dot & cross paper for drafting, toile cotton and all the tools you’ll need.

Additional costs –fabric plus notions for the final garment.

At Mandors, 134 Renfrew Street, Glasgow G3 8ST
